Kansas City sits on the western edge of Missouri, near the Kansas border. The city is known for many things, including its top-notch barbecue. Check out our suggestions for seeing the city in a day for $100.
Start your day with breakfast at eggtc. With two locations in Kansas City, eggtc serves up breakfast classics including omelets, waffles and egg sandwiches. Spend $10–15. Take a stroll through Loose Park (http://kcparks.org/park/loose-park/). The 75-acre park was the site of a Civil War battle. Now, the grounds include a rose garden boasting more than 168 varieties of roses.
Grab Hawai’ian-inspired grub at Longboards. With four locations total, stop into the Kansas City spot for a wide selection of salads, noodle bowls and wraps. Spend $8–12 on lunch. Visit the American Jazz Museum. Located in the historic 18th & Vine Jazz District, the museum showcases the sights and sounds of jazz. The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum shares a building with the American Jazz Museum. The non-profit organization is dedicated to preserving the history of African-American baseball. Adult admission costs $10 for each, or $15 for both.
Kansas City is known for its barbecue and Arthur Bryant’s Barbeque is one of the most popular spots in the city. Its burnt ends and flavorful barbecue sauce are the big draws. A meal costs about $15. End your evening with a nightcap at Manifesto. The intimate lounge is located in the basement of The Rieger hotel. It operated as a speakeasy in the 1920s. Cocktails start at $11.
