Under $100 / Caribbean

Luanda is a pricey city in the country of Angola, so spending a day here without breaking $100 is no easy task. That doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

Start your day with a pre-packaged Pop Tart or toast made at your hotel in order to save a few bucks, otherwise you won’t make it through the day. Afterward, start things off with a trip to the Avenida 4 de Fevereiro. This walkway provides beautiful scenery against an ocean backdrop and plenty of shopping opportunities if you’ve brought extra cash for souvenirs. Touring the exterior is free, but inside you’ll find fascinating tiles depicting the history of Angola. It only costs $1 to enter.

For lunch, check out Churrascaria Nandinhos for some of their tasty grilled chicken cooked over coals. It’s one of the more affordable places in town and a local favorite. Set aside $20 for a meal.

Once you’re stuffed, make your way to Miradouro da Lua. This shoreline was once covered by the sea, but is now an undulating coast of sand that is impressively unique. Visiting is free.

Next, head downtown to the Iron Palace, a bright yellow structure made entirely of iron by the same man who constructed the Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty. It’s free to see and you can tour downtown after you’re done.

For dinner check out Pimm’s. It’s costly, but easily the best dining experience in town. The views are spectacular and the food delicious. Expect to thrown down at least $40 for a meal.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips.

What to Do During a Trip to Morro Bay, California

No, it’s not Monterey Bay. We’re talking Morro Bay, California, located about a 2.5-hour drive to the south, about halfway between San Jose and Los Angeles. A quieter destination, Morro Bay offers plenty for the outdoor adventurer to enjoy.
