Under $100 / Caribbean

From gorgeous beaches and white sand to expansive golf courses and warm weather, Nassau is a beach lover’s paradise. Whether you’re relaxing in the sun or visiting an array of unique sites, this city has it all.

Spend the morning sitting outside, embracing the warm sun before heading to breakfast at Dune located in the One and Only Resort in Nassau. Sit atop the white sand overlooking the blue-green sea. Delve into the cinnamon French toast with mango and bacon for $20 or traditional Bahamian boiled fish with Johnny cake and grits for $20. Be sure to add a freshly squeezed smoothie, perhaps the Tropical Soy Smoothie with banana, lime leaf, coconut milk and yogurt for $12.

Once you’ve enjoyed the beachfront breakfast, head to the beach for some needed rest and relaxation. If you get too hot, take a dip in the calm, serene salty ocean or head for the pool and float away in the lazy river.

Enjoy lunch at Senor Frog’s, a must visit in Nassau. Here you’ll have unforgettable fun, delicious food, thirst-quenching drinks and maybe even a video of you dancing on stage. Order a regular-sized Senor Frog’s Margarita for $5.43, or a souvenir yard mug for $10.

For dinner, relax at Carmine’s on Paradise Island. Enjoy the lively, family-style atmosphere and dining experience. Experience the classic Italian cuisine of Atlantis Paradise Island’s recreation of the popular New York restaurant. Order the delicious garlic bread for $13.95, and the angel hair with Pomodoro sauce for $26.95.

After dinner, visit Cabbage Beach, arguably the most popular shore of the Bahamas. Located on Paradise Island, the beach is flanked by hotels, eateries and water activities galore. Rent one of the jet skis for $20, or if that’s not your scene, enjoy the ambiance with the beach’s clear water and soft sand.

To end the night, be sure to stop by Bay Street where you may find Junkanoo. This is the biggest celebration held all over the island. This night parade is held on Dec. 26, New Year’s Day and then again the summertime. Young and old locals spend months making elaborate costumes for the parades and then take to the island’s streets to dance, blare conch-shell horns, beat goatskin drums and clank cowbells. At the end of the procession, judges select the best dancers, costumes and more. If you’re not able to make it for the official Junkanoo celebration, Paradise Island’s Marina Village hosts mini-Junkaroos weekly.
