Next, visit Salisbury House & Gardens. Carl and Edith Weeks built the historic house in the 1920s and, today, it still features books, art, historic documents and furnishings from the former owners. Self-guided tours cost $8 and guided tours cost $12. Closed Monday.
Visit Exile Brewing Company for some beers and lunch. The brewery and taproom offers elevated pub grub in its beer hall-style digs. Sandwiches start at $9. Closed Monday. Spend some time exploring Iowa’s history at the State Historical Museum of Iowa. The collection features more than 80,000 artifacts detailing the state’s history. Admission is free. Closed Sunday.
Splurge on dinner at the James Beard award-nominated restaurant Harbinger. The vegetable-focused menu highlights local ingredients with an Asian spin. The chef’s tasting menu costs $35 for five courses.
