Give your sweet tooth what it craves by visiting Hershey, Pennsylvania. This tasty destination is the perfect location for travelers looking for a low-budget trip with a lot to experience and learn.
Start your day by learning about the man behind one of the biggest chocolate names in the world, Milton Hershey. An interactive museum goes through the story of Hershey, using touchscreens, movies, working machines and fun props.
For a hands-on experience, participate in a 45-minute class in the Chocolate Lab. This class will teach you the process of making the delicious dessert and offers the chance to pour and decorate your own creations. The museum and class are $12.50 each or $20 for both. For an additional chocolate experience, a tasting of three or six warm chocolates from around the world will cost you only $6 or $10, depending on how many you want to sample.
If you are not a big chocolate fan, visit Hershey Gardens. For $20, you can enjoy the museum and gardens that house a butterfly atrium and an active beehive. The gardens provide learning experiences to teach children and adults the importance of sustainable living.
Hershey Park, located right by the museum, has a regular admission price of $68.95. Later in the season, the price drops to $49.95 for the full day, but, if you want an even bigger discount, waiting until 4 p.m. on any day for the Sunset Ticket will only cost $32.95. Waiting until later in the day will allow you to visit the other Hershey attractions while still enjoying the rides.
A trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania, will cost approximately $85, leaving money left over to purchase souvenirs or a giant chocolate bar to bring home for the year.
