Take a trip down Palafox Street, right in downtown Pensacola, to shop ’til you drop at an array of local boutiques that sell everything from high-end denim to antiques, handmade beauty products to gourmet eats. Get a little more history into your system at Historic Pensacola Village. This huge display stretches over several city blocks and includes many structures either directly from the early 19th century or rebuilt in the same manner. From churches to homes, archaeological sites to boarding houses, you’ll see just how Floridians lived more than two centuries ago. Admittance is $8.

Finish off with dinner and a perfect view of the ocean at Red Fish Blue Fish. The menu is modern with a touch of Southern (think edamame succotash and pickled jalapeño pimento cheese). Dinner options start at $9. If you’re traveling with your furry friend, feel free to bring them along, grab a picnic table and enjoy some open-air dining to end the day on a good note.
