Under $100 / Europe

When you think about a visit to Italy, you are probably overcome with thoughts and images of grand structures. The Coliseum, Vatican and more likely come to mind, and with them, the thoughts of big expenses in Italy.

Teramo is in the Abruzzo region of the country and offers visitors a chance to soak up the culinary heritage of the town for a minimal price tag.

Start your day off with a quick trip to Tasty Bakery and Café. This café is the perfect spot to get an affordable breakfast. You can get your whole breakfast here for less than $20.

After breakfast, make your way to the Francesco Savini Archaeology Museum. The museum is free to enter. This is an easy way to kill a morning and learn about the archaeological history of Teramo.

For lunch, go to La Vittoria for an easy meal. La Vittoria is perfect if you want to experience authentic Italian food from Teramo. The lunch is affordable and offers visitors a look at what a typical meal in the Abruzzo region can look and taste like.

History and religion buffs are in for a treat after lunch. Take a trip over to the Teramo Cathedral. The cathedral is dedicated to the assumption of Mary and to Saint Berardo, the patron saint of Teramo. Go see the Church of Saint Anthony as well before thinking about getting dinner. Visits to these public buildings are free.

For dinner, you are going to Pizzeria Don Miguel. This is the place to get some of the best pizza in all of Italy, and is affordable as well. The average cost of a piece of pizza here is $3, making the dinner stop well worth it.
