Combining your wedding with a beautiful getaway may seem like the perfect way to begin your married life … or it may seem like a certain way to alienate your closest friends and family.
If you’re unsure whether or not a destination wedding is the right choice for you, ask yourself these four questions.
Do you like to keep things simple?
While it’s certainly possible to plan elaborate black-tie affairs at a distance, most couples plan destination weddings to avoid huge guest lists, large ceremonies and fancy receptions. If you want to keep your wedding simple and personal, a destination wedding may be the perfect choice.
Do you love to travel?
If travel is your favorite thing, then a destination wedding is a great way to personalize your big day. Whether you and your sweetheart met abroad or you simply love jetting around the world, turning your wedding into an awesome getaway means you’ll be marrying your favorite person while doing your favorite thing — a winning combination.
Can the people you want there afford to come?
If it’s important to you that certain people attend your wedding, don’t plan an event you know they can’t afford to attend. But if the friends and family you want to witness the start of your new life are willing and able to travel, then there’s no reason not to hop on that plane and celebrate together.
Do you want someone else to do the planning?
Many popular wedding destinations offer full-service, pre-planned packages. The bride and groom just have to pick the time, place and maybe what is served at dinner. For couples not interested in the details of flower arrangements or chiavari chairs, letting someone else plan things before you arrive is the perfect solution.
