Destinations / Africa

Liuwa Plain National Park in Zambia is home to one of the largest wildebeest migrations in Africa. Anywhere from 40,000 to 50,000 wildebeest, as well as zebra, tsessebe and lechwe migrate in a stunning display. Consider a stay at one of these properties in the Liuwa Plain and witness the experience in person.

Liuwa Camp

Opened December 2023, this lodge is home to eight canvas chalets, including a family unit able to accommodate up to 18 guests. Chalets are placed on raised decks to ensure privacy. Communal spaces feature a dining room, lounge, library and fire pit.

Liuwa Plain Campsites

Liuwa Plain National Park offers five immersive campsites: Lyangu, Katoyana, Kwale, Mukalabumbu and Sikale. Each site accommodates up to 20 people and features flushing toilets and hot showers.

Liuwa Plains Mobile Safari

Expert guides lead guests on a mobile safari through Liuwa Plain National Park. Booked on a private basis, this safari includes accommodations at a campsite within the park for up to six guests. Departures begin in November.

King Lewanika Lodge

Named after King Lewanika, who declared the Liuwa Plain a protected area in the 1880s, this lodge features six open-front villas. The large family villa boasts two bedrooms and two bathrooms. All villas are powered by solar energy and feature indoor and outdoor showers, lounges, and verandas. Guests may also participate in activities including walking safaris, canoeing and fishing.
