Trends

Global outdoor accommodation booking site Pitchup.com unveiled its outdoor travel trend predictions for 2025. With an increase in outdoor accommodation bookings in 2024, the company analyzed booking data as well as customer reviews for its 2025 forecast.

Culinary Camping

Searches for campgrounds on farms saw more than 440,000 searches in 2024. Agritourism-focused campgrounds allow travelers to experience sustainable farming, with plenty of local products to sample.

Joy Of Missing Out (JOMO)

Instead of FOMO, more travelers are interested in JOMO for 2025. Travelers are more likely to skip large gatherings and instead celebrate holidays with more intimate experiences in nature.

Go Nude

Pitchup.com saw a staggering 742 percent increase in searches for naturist campgrounds, also known as free-spirited spaces that practice social nudity.

Glamping at Luxury Hotels

Some luxury hotels offer guests glamping experiences. This gives travelers the opportunity to enjoy the luxury amenities of a property while still spending time in the great outdoors.

International Camping

Pitchup.com saw a 20 percent increase in searches for campgrounds outside of the United States. Camping in an unexpected destination offers travelers an authentic experience away from the crowds.

“This year’s record bookings on Pitchup.com show continued interest in outdoor immersion, which offers a meaningful way for people to find balance and forge deeper connections with themselves and their surroundings,” said Dan Yates, founder and managing director, Pitchup.com. “The camping and glamping experience continues to evolve and is now more accessible, catering to a wide variety of traveler needs and interests beyond the traditional tent setting.”
