If you find yourself unpacking in a hotel room and you’ve realized you’ve just brought too much stuff — or you purchased so many souvenirs from your trip you may just need to make some extra room in your suitcase — a new solution being adopted by global hospitality brands may be able to help.
Giving Bag is an “eco-conscious recycling and donation solution” that allows travelers to place any unwanted clothing, shoes, books, single-use hotel items or lifestyle accessories in the designated Giving Bag in their hotel rooms. Those items are then collected by hotel staff and delivered to organizations within the hotel’s local community who could benefit from those donations. As fitting the brand’s ethos, each Giving Bag, once emptied of its donated items, is then re-used again and again with future guests.
So far, you can find Giving Bags in hotels in more than a dozen countries and, most recently, the brand partnered with Hyatt’s Alila Hotels & Resorts brands to place the bags in properties throughout the Asia Pacific region.
“We are proud to deepen our relationship with Hyatt in expanding the adoption of Giving Bag to Alila brand hotels around the world,” said Quinn Cox, co-founder and CEO, Giving Bag. “The passion and creativity of Alila helps further reinforce the meaningful positive impact it can have on local communities, as well as our environment, by connecting gently used items with those in need rather than unnecessarily going to landfill.”
