Trends / Food & Drink

Cocktails are a great refresher, but it seems like more people shying away from booze these days. And, let’s face it, there are a myriad of reasons to avoid the strong stuff, but sometimes you still want a nice, refreshing cocktail. Enter the mocktail.

This alcohol-free cocktail variety has gone mainstream. In the past, your best option was a gin and tonic without the gin and with extra lime, but now the sky is the limit. Many restaurants embrace the cultural influences of Mexico and South America by incorporating fresh juice-infused water.

In addition, the craft mocktail is actually a thing. Many of these are modeled after an alcoholic version, but increasingly there is a trend to branch out of that box and create something all its own. No matter what cocktail you make, you will need to stock up on club soda, ice and a homemade simple syrup.

From there, start to incorporate the kinds of fruits and berries you would like to use. There are many recipes available online, but some top picks include the spicy ginger mocktail or a berry blast.

The Argosaronic Islands Are Calling

The Saronic or Argo Saronic Islands of Greece call travelers to explore its seven small islands and islets brimming with history, natural sites and more. With most easily accessible by boat, the islands’ proximity to ports of Athens make the Saronic Islands an ideal destination for those preferring shorter boat rides. In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips.
