Are Timeshares the New Millennial Travel Trend?

A new survey from Wyndham Destinations finds nearly 50 percent of Americans believe they’ll end up spending more than $80,000 on vacations during their lifetime. However, the study also showed millennials try to avoid spending this hefty price by investing in timeshares.

Of the 55 percent of millennials who indicated they’d vacationed in a timeshare previously, 73 percent said they enjoyed the experience and 25 percent said they would consider buying a timeshare. They found the benefits of timeshares diverse, ranging from the convenience of full kitchens to the added privacy often not available in a hotel.

Wyndham Destinations says timeshares are more affordable than most initially think. Someone can purchase a timeshare for less than the cost of one peppermint mocha coffee per day. Additionally, Wyndham Destinations dispels the myth a timeshare means you only vacation in one spot for the rest of your life — the brand offers timeshare owners the opportunity to stay at resorts and resort partners in more than 100 countries.

The Wyndham Destination study additionally found more than one-fifth of timeshare shoppers would purchase a vacation home based on its Insta-worthiness. It also discovered 71 percent of timeshare owners claim to have more sex with their partner while on vacation. One-fourth of respondents say they plan to purchase a timeshare within the next three years.
