Richmond, Virginia, probably doesn’t come to mind when you think of incredible bachelor party destinations, but maybe it should. The capital city has a lot going for it, from excellent brewery tours to a vibrant nightlife and impressive outdoor culture.

Start the day with a little exercise by heading to the James River Park System. Here you’ll find plenty of options to enjoy the weather, including options for whitewater rafting. You can also rent a party boat and spend the day having drinks with the boys.

In the afternoon you’ll want to check out at least one of the numerous local breweries spread across the city. The Richmond Beer Trail covers more than 30 breweries, many of which offer tours of the facilities and, of course, tastings. A few highlights include Veil, Isley and Three Notch’d. The Scott’s Addition neighborhood offers one of the largest collections of breweries in one spot, so a walking tour is a perfect choice.

In the evening you’ll want to cut loose, so seek out some of the city’s best bars. Sine Irish Pub is perfect for an old-school rowdy atmosphere, while Southern Railway Taphouse offers a good mix of club and pub. Otherwise, head to the Shockoe Bottom neighborhood alongside the James River to find many of the city’s most popular nightclubs.
