Do you get a feeling of dread on Sunday? Do you feel worried and anxious about the upcoming week before the weekend is even over? This common feeling, often referred to as the Sunday Scaries, is a real phenomenon.
According to a poll by job search engine Monster (https://www.monster.com/career-advice/article/its-time-to-eliminate-sunday-night-blues-0602), 76 percent of Americans experience some form of the Sunday Scaries. Don’t let these feelings get you down! Follow our tips for beating these bad vibes.
Pinpoint the Problem
Think about what specifically is making you feel anxious. Do you have an important meeting, deadline or presentation looming? Address the source and come up with some ways you can reduce your stress.
Unplug
Whenever possible, avoid checking your work email. Even if you have things to tend to for work, allow yourself a set time limit to check email over the weekend; otherwise, unplug and enjoy your free time.
Plan Ahead
Plan some fun activities during the upcoming week and weekend, so you have something to look forward to, instead of dreading the days to come. It can be as simple as cooking a meal you love, or more elaborate like a night out with a group of friends.
Sunday Funday
Instead of spending Sunday worrying about the week ahead, create a Sunday Funday tradition. Whether it’s going out to dinner with friends, meal prepping, pampering yourself or watching a new movie at home, pick something you enjoy that will make your Sunday more pleasant.
