Best Cities for Remote Workers

Tips / Travel

With more and more jobs becoming computer-based and, thus, able to be completed from theoretically anywhere, the idea of working remotely is one newer workers are striving for and negotiating with their employers. If location and time zone are irrelevant for your line of work, here are some of the world’s best places to work as a digital nomad.

Bali, Indonesia

Young people have flocked to Bali for years for spiritual rejuvenation, but recently the Southeast Asian island has also attracted remote professionals who would rather work by the beach than in an office. The affordability of the island also makes it a formidable option, as sharing an apartment can cost less than $100 per month and coworking memberships can cost around $200 per month and come with heaps of perks and amenities.

Bangkok, Thailand

The tropical capital lures bloggers and entrepreneurs to its thriving city center where coworking spaces increase by the day and can cost less than $100 per month. A foreign salary goes a long way in Bangkok, which makes it easier for you to enjoy the local food scene and travel around to Thai hot spots like Chiang Mai and Phuket.

Barcelona, Spain

Obtaining a visa in this European Union country is getting more difficult, so the sooner you jet off to the capital of Catalonia on a “non-lucrative” visa, the better. The city has a thriving tech scene and a healthy expatriate community, making it easy to find your niche and network.

Porto, Portugal

Spain’s Atlantic coast neighbor shares its propensity for numerous breaks throughout the workday and a slower pace of life. The UNESCO World Heritage city is just a quick bus ride from the beaches to the west and the Douro Wine Valley to the east.

What to Do During a Trip to Morro Bay, California

No, it’s not Monterey Bay. We’re talking Morro Bay, California, located about a 2.5-hour drive to the south, about halfway between San Jose and Los Angeles. A quieter destination, Morro Bay offers plenty for the outdoor adventurer to enjoy.
