Sicily may be famous for its street food and bustling markets, but there are also top restaurants on the island.
Hostaria San Pietro is a hugely popular restaurant in Trapani, on the seaside in western Sicily. The menu changes depending on what has come in from the fishing boats or the market that day, but leans heavily on Sicilian classics like pasta alla Norma.
Osteria Rosso Divino is a great spot in Taormina where the wine list is as good as the food. Try the anchovy tempura, or choose the veal if you are a meat eater. You can book online, too.
I Banchi in Ragusa is the work of Ciccio Sultano, renowned chef and holder of two Michelin stars for his restaurant Il Duomo. This place is more casual, if still pricy, and combines Sicilian classics with contemporary cooking.
Ristorante Crocifisso is found in the town of Noto, offering simple but delicious pasta dishes as well as street food snacks such as chickpea fritters. Don’t miss out on the amazing desserts, either.
Ristorante Vittorio takes the Sicilian taste for seafood and distills it into one restaurant. Fresh lobster, tuna, prawns and octopus dominate the menu, and Sicilian wineries take center stage on the well-constructed wine list.
