Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Moët Hennessy just announced the launch of a groundbreaking new American whisky, SirDavis. Now available for pre-order, this new whisky makes history as the first spirits brand developed entirely internally by Moët Hennessy in the United States.

The whisky is named after Davis Hogue, Knowles-Carter’s paternal great-grandfather who worked as a farmer and moonshiner in the American South during Prohibition. SirDavis tells the story of heritage and legacy and, at the 2023 SIP Awards, won Best in Class for American Whiskey.

So what can you expect from the actual flavor and tasting notes of SirDavis? You’ll enjoy tangy Seville oranges mingled with soft, sun-kissed raisins, while the spices of clove, cinnamon and ginger come through alongside notes of Demerara sugar and toffee. Soft, malty and biscuity notes follow, intertwined with a vibrant citrus top note.

With a bespoke mash bill composed of 51 percent rye and a noteworthy 49 percent barley with a secondary maturation in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, SirDavis has been crafted alongside one of the world’s most-regarded Master Distillers, Dr. Bill Lumsden. SirDavis’ texture is reminiscent of Japanese and Scotch whiskies mixed with the robust, deep flavors typical of American rye. SirDavis has an ABV of 44 percent.
