Boba or bubble tea is the latest Asian food craze that looks like it’s here to stay. Alternately fruity and creamy, these drinks provide a welcome break from coffee. Many are refreshingly ice-blended and come with boba, tapioca pearls.

This brightly colored drink is a fun afternoon or after-dinner treat, but Boba7 in downtown Los Angeles is giving the drink a whole new life. Boba7 or La Bobatory offers cheekily named drinks spiked with alcohol. Try their signature Horchata boba, Heineken boba or order a My Drink Totaro (a taro-flavored, ice-blended beverage).

But the real fun comes with the customization. The flavor choices and number of combinations are astounding. After deciding on the flavor mix-ins, the honey or popping boba add a refreshing treat to any drink.

Luckily, expert mixologists are happy to recommend flavor combinations. They will also add alcohol to any drink to make it your own boba cocktail. Of course, they also have alcohol-free drinks.

All drinks are made with non-dairy creamer, so they should not upset any lactose-sensitive stomachs and boba is naturally gluten-free. There’s no reason not to hop on this grown-up food trend and sip away.

How to Explore Neuschwanstein Castle

Most people know Neuschwanstein Castle as Walt Disney’s inspiration for both Cinderella’s and Sleeping Beauty’s castles, but it is also filled with history and stories from German royalty. In 1868, King Ludwig II began construction of the medieval-style castle to live in. Sadly, it wasn’t finished before he died, so the king never got to see the finished product. Today, the castle is privately owned, but travelers can still explore it on a guided audio tour.
