Start your day by visiting the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park. Entry is free, so be sure to take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about MLK and his life.
Next, head to Krog Street Market to enjoy brunch. The market has a variety of options, so this is a great spot for experimentation. Richards’ Southern Fried Hot Chicken is a great spot to enjoy spicy chicken and waffles. Order a small side of macaroni and cheese with sweet tea for the authentic southern experience. This should cost no more than $20.
Head to downtown Atlanta and visit Centennial Olympic Park. It is the site of the 1996 Summer Olympic Games and is open to the public for viewing. You can walk around, see the Fountain of Rings and explore the park. There is also a 200-foot Ferris wheel called SkyView Atlanta that provides scenic views of the city ($14).
Walk to the Georgia Aquarium and get ready for the experience of a lifetime. There are hundreds of species of aquatic animals in the aquarium living in freshwater or saltwater. There are exhibits you can visit depending on your taste and you may be able to see people diving with the animals. ($32)
Your final stop is The Vortex Bar & Grill in Midtown Atlanta for dinner. Order your choice of appetizer, sandwich or burger, a side dish and drinks and that should cost no more than $25. The ambiance of the bar is bound to help you make some new friends. After dinner, stay in the Midtown area or head downtown to enjoy the nightlife and bar scene in Atlanta.
