Barbie is celebrating her 60th birthday this year and Hilton Cartagena is honoring the occasion with a special Barbie-themed experience room devoted entirely to her. If you grew up loving Barbie or are simply a fan of nostalgia, this just might be the perfect hotel room for you.
Hilton teamed up with Mattel to design this special room available to guests until March 2020 at a rate of $138 per night.
The themed room is decked out from floor to ceiling in all things Barbie, from the bedding to the toys found in the room. The decor and toys follow a glamping concept, so within this luxury hotel room you will find a child-sized tent and travel-themed Barbie decorations, along with plenty of Barbie dolls. The walls are painted with fun beach murals (to match the incredible views of the Caribbean Sea from the hotel) and even the furniture has been updated to match the theme with pink and blue dressers and purple and white curtains.
When you check in to the Barbie room with a young Barbie fan, your child will get a complimentary Barbie gift from the hotel in honor of the iconic doll’s birthday. Even if you aren’t able to book the room for your stay, guests will still be able to find little touches throughout the hotel to pay homage to this iconic doll, such as Barbie-themed items on the menus.
Travelers are already savvy about keeping trash out of oceans and focused on our rising shorelines. But according to MarineSafe, sunscreen is one of the biggest and permanent polluters to our oceans. The common sunscreen ingredients oxybenzone and octinoxate are toxic to coral reefs and other marine life. The chemicals are shown to cause coral bleaching that ultimately leaves the coral vulnerable to infection and malnourished. Of course, sunscreen isn’t the only source of pollution in our oceans, but is quickly escalating into a crisis.
