Prost! San Diego, California, hosts the 51st annual La Mesa Oktoberfest Oct. 4–6. The largest Oktoberfest in Southern California celebrates all things Bavaria with German food and beer, live music, family-friendly activities, a Ferris wheel, and more.

Choose to imbibe from three beer gardens, each with performances from local and regional bands and a selection of different food and drink offerings. Sample classic German fare including pretzels, bratwurst, schnitzel and apple strudel. For those not interested in German cuisine, other food and drink are available.
Families attending Oktoberfest have several family-friendly options available. German Kinder Karneval hosts a Ferris wheel, inflatable obstacle course, and a variety of arts and crafts stations. Visit Glücklich Games for competitive games of strength, including tug-of-war, keg holding and tire flipping. Furry guests are welcome at Dackeldorf Dachshund Village for dog races and pet fashion shows.

Experience new offerings for 2024. Artisan Alley craft fair takes place on Allison Avenue. Support local artisans and purchase unique handmade goods and treats. A pop-up pumpkin patch and flower shop allow guests to pick out the perfect pumpkin and create a flower crown.
The festival is free to attend. Entry to the beer gardens cost $8. V.I.P. tickets are also available for $15–45 for guests 21 and older, and $10–25 for guests younger than 21. This year’s event takes place Oct. 4 (4–10 p.m.), Oct. 5 (10 a.m.–10 p.m.) and Oct. 6 (12–8 p.m.).
