Planning ahead for a fall shoulder season (mid-September–October) trip? If you’re traveling on a budget, you’ll want to visit one of the cheapest U.S. fall shoulder season destinations.
According to new data from Dollar Flight Club, which analyzed airfare around the country for the fall shoulder season, the top cheapest destinations include New York, Las Vegas and Miami, with flights starting at $140–190, and with average fares settling around $400–500.
Of course, it’s not just where you’re flying to that determines what prices you’ll pay. Where you’re flying out of also determines your costs. As such, during the same study, Dollar Flight Club also looked at cheapest fall destinations for some of the busiest airports in the United States.
So, if you’re flying out of Atlanta (ATL) this fall, try a trip to New York City (JFK/LGA), New Orleans (MSY) or the Dominican Republic (PUJ). Flying out of Chicago (ORD)? Try Miami (MIA), Phoenix (PHX) or Puerto Rico (SJU); just be sure to avoid peak hurricane dates for that last one. Getting away from New York City? Cheapest shoulder season airfare can be found to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Toronto (YYZ) and Barcelona (BCN).
