Here are several new Chicago culinary experiences you can enjoy no matter when you visit.
A new restaurant is open inside The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel. Kostali is helmed by James Beard Award-winning chef Carrie Nahabedian. The restaurant, with its name meaning coastal, will offer a menu channeling the flavors of Southern Europe and North Africa, taking inspiration from countries such as Greece, Tunisia, Lebanon, Morocco and Spain.
A new restaurant is open in Chicago’s River North neighborhood. Tzuco offers Mexican cuisine infused with French haute cuisine techniques. The restaurant is the brainchild of Carlos Gaytan, the first Mexican chef to ever receive a Michelin star.
This is not your normal Chicago pizza. L’Aventino Forno Romano, located in Streeterville, is a pizzeria inspired by a Roman-style pizza called pinsa. The pizza variety is lower in gluten content, carbohydrates and fats due to the very particular pizza dough, which is airy, moist and crispy.
If you arrive in Chicago in April 2020 or later, head to the new co-op grocery Chicago Market, in Uptown. The marketplace offers locally sourced and organic products alongside a prepared foods section, all set within a retired Chicago CTA train station.
