Luxury travel resource Classic Vacations recently revealed the results of its Summer 2026 Luxury Travel Trends Forecast. Overall, early booking data shows an intentional luxury travel approach this summer, with trips combining cultural immersion and multigenerational travel.
Europe holds strong as a desired vacation destination. Leading countries for summer include Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice, Tuscany, Amalfi Coast); Greece (Athens, Mykonos, Santorini); and Spain (Barcelona, Madrid). However, with rising costs and general uncertainty, travelers may opt to stay closer to home this summer. Popular domestic destinations providing luxury without the passport include Hawai’i; Palm Springs, California; Aspen, Colorado; and the Florida Keys. Travelers also may wait to book their trip closer to departure time, especially for long weekend getaways.
Classic Vacations noted a greater emphasis on immersive travel experiences. Agritourism continues to trend, with travelers opting for luxury stays in regions like Tuscany. Interest in culinary travel remains strong for experiences including private wine tastings, hands-on cooking classes and immersive food tours. Historical stays are of particular interest, with many America250 celebrations taking place this summer throughout the United States.
“For summer 2026, travelers are prioritizing high-end vacations that feel effortless from start to finish,” said Melissa Krueger, CEO, Classic Vacations. “Luxury hotels, resorts, and villas remain top choices, especially those offering immersive, on-site experiences that create a deeper connection to place.”
