The town of Culpeper, Virginia, situated between Richmond and Washington, D.C., launches a new initiative to bring attention to under-recognized aspects of its history, celebrating its diverse past as well as its diverse future. The new Culpeper Uncovered initiative specifically looks at how Black, Indigenous and immigrant communities shaped the area, as well as today’s minority-owned businesses’ impacts.

This initiative includes guided and self-guided tours dedicated to diverse history, with travelers visiting landmark businesses, murals and historic spots. Throughout the upcoming spring and summer, Culpeper social media channels feature diverse content creators sharing their perspectives. Other content and events will likewise take place. All the while, during a broader visit to the area, travelers will not only enjoy the wealth of regional history, but also its abundance of wineries and outdoor adventure activities.
