In early 2015, Munich Airport was awarded five-star status by Skytrax, the London-based aviation research institute. In order to receive this high acclaim, Munich Airport underwent a highly intense investigation encompassing all of the airport’s day-to-day actions and practices. Specifically, Skytrax looks for simplified travel processes, ease of navigability, superb service, modernity, comfort and cleanliness. For Munich Airport, all of this is part of a day’s work.

A key component of Munich Airport’s five-star status includes their first-class atmosphere. Efforts are made to create an environment that easily fits every traveler, whether they’re the hard-working business executive or the relaxed leisure vacationer. Comfortable seating, multitudes of electrical and USB outlets, modern work spaces and VIP options all add to the high standard of comfort and convenience travelers can expect at Munich Airport.

In order to gain Skytrax’s five-star status, Munich Airport streamlined and optimized many of their services to make the passenger experience as quick and easy as possible. Their EasyPASS border control system allows more than 100,000 passengers each month to cross the border while undergoing automatic and independent screening, therefore simplifying the security and passport checkpoint routines that many international travelers dread. Once inside the airport, InfoGate kiosks also allow guests in need of assistance to contact terminal services staff directly from a wide variety of locations.
