One of the biggest problems with luggage locks is trying to remember the code to get them open, especially if you don’t use them often. eGeeTouch is looking to fix that with their new Smart Travel Padlocks. These locks are TSA-approved padlocks that sync with your Bluetooth device to get around having to manually enter a passcode or combination.
Instead, you’ll have access to the lock through your smartphone or other mobile device and can set it to unlock remotely. It also includes a key-lock accessible by authorized TSA personnel in the event they need to get into your luggage.
It locks and unlocks through the use of a password or code similar to what you might set for your e-mail, so it can be something hard to guess but easy for you to remember. As an added bonus, some of the locks contain a security device that’ll actually let you know if you managed to leave your luggage behind somewhere once you step too far away from it. It can also help the airline track your bags in case they’re lost in transit.
These smart locks are hard to come by at the moment, but should be available in the United States later this year. For now you can keep track of progress on eGeeTouch’s website or by following their Indiegogo campaign.
