With an eye on environmentally friendly travel, travelers don’t always know where to start on their mission to lessen their impact. Instead, travelers want companies to offer solutions they can incorporate into trips. According to Booking.com’s 2019 Sustainable Travel Report, 71 percent of travelers think travel companies should offer consumers more sustainable travel choices. Almost half of the travelers surveyed admitted they find it hard to make sustainable choices on vacation.

Despite criticism for flying private jets and other non-sustainable travel options, Prince Harry helped launch Travalyst to promote more sustainable options. The company launched with Booking.com, Ctrip, Skyscanner, TripAdvisor and Visa as co-founding industry vets.

Other companies have already stepped up to create sustainable options for travelers that go beyond environmental friendliness and toward the impact in the local community. Impact Tours offers trips with a purpose that helps travelers offset their carbon emissions while supporting local social enterprises. Travelers have also up-leveled the concept of slow travel to embrace sustainable solutions. Train travel, taking fewer flights to reduce harmful CO2 emissions and spending money in a local economy for longer all help create a more sustainable impact in the community.

Although travel still has a long way to go to help balance its effect on the environment and local cultures, the industry is waking up to the idea they can do more to lessen the impact.

EzPacking Transparent Toiletry Bag

Plastic-averse travelers may shudder at the thought of using a resealable, zip-closed plastic bag for travel-sized liquids each and every time they travel. While some sturdier brands can be used multiple times, there’s a possibility the plastic could rip or the zipper could malfunction, therefore resulting in a free-for-all liquid disaster in your luggage. More secure toiletry bags can be safer bets, but fancy fabrics and designs can conceal the contents within, making them futile travel companions when it comes to TSA screenings.
