Airlines

If you’ve ever struggled traveling with your dog, either due to your favorite airline’s restrictions or because you just don’t want to put Fido in the luggage hold for a long-haul flight, you’re not alone. In fact, there’s such a demand for a better way to fly with dogs, the world’s first air travel experience designed specifically for dogs and their parents has been born: BARK Air. (Yes, brought to you by the same folks who founded BarkBox and BARK Super Chewer toys.)

BARK Air launched in May 2024 and has offered dog-friendly flights since to destinations like Los Angeles, New York, London and Paris. Utilizing small aircraft, BARK Air serves no more than 10 humans and their dogs with each flight. These small groups of dogs socialize ahead of take-off to get acquainted with one another, and all dog sizes and breeds are welcome.

More recently, BARK Air partnered with Air Wisconsin to trial flights on larger aircraft, with new routes servicing Miami/Fort Lauderdale as of February.

“Since May 2024, we’ve had the honor of flying dogs and their families together, and we’ve listened to their feedback and learned how best to serve our passengers,” said Matt Meeker, co-founder and CEO, BARK. “Working with Air Wisconsin marks an exciting step forward, allowing us to accommodate more passengers on a larger aircraft while significantly reducing our prices. These flights are a major milestone in bringing our dream of dog-centric air travel to even more families.”
