As part of an effort to reduce the cost of connecting to the internet while traveling, Fonebud W launched a campaign to bring global WiFi access to the masses.

The device, which will eventually be marketed by Fonebud W, will allow travelers to charge their devices and connect to the internet from anywhere in more than 90 countries all over the world.

Fonebud W promises up to eight devices will be able to connect to its WiFi device at any given time, giving those devices access to international 3G and 4G WiFi. The device will keep users connected for 35 hours of active internet usage.

The device can charge devices through USB connections or wirelessly, and customers are able to buy data plans from anywhere between 90 and 365 days. To start, the device will come with 2 gigabytes of international roaming data.

“Today’s active lifestyles rely heavily on mobile devices with trusted, uninterrupted connection,” said Sunny Koay, CEO, Fonebud W. “Whether people are traveling for work or for adventure, Fonebud W makes international trips easier and more cost-effective. Venturing from country to country and keeping in touch with loved ones and co-workers is effortless with Fonebud W.”

The hotspot device is compatible with any WiFi-enabled device, from phones to laptops to videogame handhelds like the Nintendo Switch. Data packages will begin at $2 per gigabyte.

Fonebud W is currently available for preorder on Indiegogo.com for $99. This includes the device at a 38 percent discount and two gigabytes of data. For more information or to preorder the Fonebud W, visit the Indiegogo campaign page.
