Hotel

Today, travelers look for adventure- and activity-led vacations to build and learn new skills and create meaningful memories. According to a study conducted by Accor, more travelers are looking for destinations offering recreational sports. In fact, there’s a 50 percent increase in searches for workout holidays. Whether travelers are looking to learn to surf, improve their golf swing, work on their back hand on the tennis court or try a new watersport, these hotels have it all:

Hang Ten in Oahu

Located next to Waikiki Beach, The Twin Fin hotel offers access to some of the world’s most iconic surf breaks. The hotel is also home to Jamie O’Brien School of Surf, created by Oahu native, hall-of-fame pro surfer and filmmaker Jamie O’Brien. Travelers can shred the waves with personalized instructions by expert local coaches and high-end gear.

Golf Like a Pro

PGA West in La Quinta, California, also known as the “Western Home of Golf in America,” offers a one-of-a-kind experience for golfers of all levels. The destination recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation, making it the perfect place to perfect your golf swing. Golf Academy provides world-class instructions and lessons from some of the best coaches around. Before the end of the year, PGA West will unveil a new state-of-the-art Performance Lab, open to the public and featuring two simulator bays, a Zen Putting Stage, putting software, Trackman iO Launch Monitor and a custom club fitting.

Sail the Caribbean

Located on a secluded island, Oil Nut Bay boasts beautiful villas, unique amenities and a laidback lifestyle. Thanks to its wind and safe waters, travelers can expect some exceptional sailing. Oil Nut Bay has Hobie Sailing equipment for guests, and a team of experts on hand to provide private or small-group sailing lessons.

Game, Set, Match

Although you may know of Sand Valley for its championship golf courses, it also is home to some of the best tennis in the Midwest. This sports destination recently opened a new Tennis Center with 16 grass tennis courts, a full pro shop with special merchandise and re-stringing services, Court Tennis, and The Gallery Italian restaurant. For those who haven’t heard of Court Tennis, it’s a game played on a special indoor court. Fun fact: This version of tennis dates back to the 16th century.

Kitesurfing with Local

Guests visiting Costa Elena have access to Bahía Salinas, Costa Rica’s premiere kitesurfing destination. The windy destination offers ideal conditions for pros and beginners alike to try their hand at kitesurfing. Costa Elena allows travelers to set up lessons for beginners or share tips for experienced kitesurfers at Playa Copal Beach. And be sure to keep an eye out for local wildlife, like monkeys, turtles and dolphins, while on the water!
