While some travelers are enchanted by winter and its snow-covered charms, others look to escape the season altogether in search of sun and sand. If you’re looking for some inspiration for your winter getaway, U.S. News and World Report put together a list of the best winter destinations for every type of traveler.

Tips / Travel

If you feel stuck in the winter doldrums, just remember there are a few long weekends to look forward to that can break up the monotony and get you back into the travel swing.

Google is stepping in to help trip planners with their getaways by cluing travelers into the best deals and destinations during holiday periods. Google’s data based on bookings from past years indicate there may be a financial benefit to waiting until the last minute to book: Prices in 2018 dropped nine days before MLK Day and the best deals were found to winter destinations.

Another tip for saving on airfare is to tack on one day before or after the long weekend so you’re not flying out or back with everyone else. Fares can be about 31 percent cheaper and you’ll only lose one vacation day.

Those seeking warmer destinations and travel dates during the spring may want to book earlier, though, as prices begin to rise approximately 36 days before departure. Using Google Flights to explore the best options lets you play around with dates and destinations. Remember, flexibility will often yield the best results.

Take Me to Tahiti

Mana is the life force Tahitians believe connects all things. Feel the mana for yourself on a visit to the islands of Tahiti, and sample some of these activities as you connect with the breathtaking nature of the South Pacific. Fly Air France from the United States to Tahiti in the most convenient and comfortable way and let your holiday start on board.

Adventures on Pitcairn Island

Pitcairn Island is a remote patch of land between Eastern Island and French Polynesia, and Britain’s only inhabited territory in the Pacific. At only 15 square miles and a population of 50, it doesn’t exactly come to mind as an adventurous tourist destination. However, this tiny island is hiding some incredible opportunities.

Riad Le Bel Oranger, Marrakesh, Morocco

In the loud, busy and often overwhelming medina of Marrakesh, it can be difficult to find a tiny sliver of solace in which to rest after spending hours negotiating for the best market prices. But one riad truly exemplifies the characteristic of “tucked away,” as it’s located a few connected alleyways from the noise and congestion.

Leave Troublesome Rideshare Worries Behind

We can see it now and remember when it happened to us: Watching as the black car icon loops around and around, seemingly endlessly, and our wait time on the rideshare app continually changes. Long wait times and confused drivers are just a few bothersome issues that can nag at rideshare users. Need a solution? Ditch rideshares altogether in favor of renting a car on your next trip.
