Hike Southern Greece with On Foot Holidays

Travelers looking to take it slow on their next vacation may want to consider a walking tour in 2020. On Foot Holidays now offers slow, self-guided walking and hiking tours of Southern Greece, with a new itinerary that covers six nights and allows you to hike the Menalon Trail.

The trail traverses many old paths and mule tracks that link historic villages, fields, pastures and remote forests. Travelers will explore little-known historic spots that were hotbeds for resistance to Ottoman rule and that played roles in the Greek War of Independence. They’ll see ancient monasteries, rugged gorges and stone villages, all while enjoying local eateries and inns surrounded by old homes, shops and churches that reflect a Greece stuck in a different time period.

The itinerary is graded medium-hard in difficulty, with three to more than eight hours of walking per day. The itinerary starts at $962 per person and includes six nights of accommodations, all breakfasts and luggage transfers.
