Hiking might not be the first activity you think of when considering a trip to the Italian island of Capri, but for a getaway from the crowds and traditional tourism, Capri offers some excellent hiking.
Tourism Italy has a great rundown of some of the best hikes on the island. Here are a few of our picks.
One of the cool things about hiking on an island the size of Capri are the vistas it allows you to take in when you hike to its highest peaks. The island has great hikeable views.
The highest point of the island is accessible by way of hiking. Monte Solario offers hikers panoramic views of the island.
For a hike with a bit of a touristy destination, check out the Phoenician Steps to Villa San Michele. This whole route can be completed in about 30 minutes, but is well worth taking the time to explore, have fun and take photos.
A more urban hike will bring travelers from Villa Lysis to Villa Jovis. The paths connect two distinct and memorable landmarks on the island, from a Roman palace to the refuge of an exiled French count.
If you knock out all of the hikes Capri has to offer, and are still looking for more walking tourism opportunities on Capri, check out Tourism Italy’s suggested walking tours.
