America’s history is well preserved in what were the original 13 colonies. Dozens of sites across the Northeast mark our American Revolution, and here are four of our favorites.
Colonial National Historic Park, Yorktown, Va.
This historic park is great for colonial history buffs, containing several places important to Virginia history. One of the sites is where the first English settlers landed before the founding of Jamestown, but the most exciting place is the battlefield of Yorktown, where the Continental Army finally defeated the British in 1781.
Independence National Historic Park, Philadelphia, Pa.
Philadelphia’s great because of how the modern city grew into its historic roots. Independence National Historic Park is located in Old City and Society Hill, where the Declaration of Independence was debated and signed at the Second Continental Congress at Independence Hall. Visitors can also see Carpenter’s Hall, the Liberty Bell, Franklin Court and the National Constitution Center.
Minute Man National Historic Park, Concord, Lincoln and Lexington, Mass.
Minute Man is located around three Massachusetts towns, which saw the opening skirmishes of the Revolutionary War. There’s also a monument commemorating Paul Revere’s capture during his famed midnight ride.
Washington Crossing Historic Park, Pennsylvania
It’s not the biggest park, but Washington Crossing is historically significant for the Battle of Trenton. George Washington chose to cross the Delaware on Christmas for a surprise attack on Hessian soldiers, winning a decisive victory and marking a turning point in the war.
Oaxaca is, without a doubt, a city so impressive one must experience it firsthand to understand its splendor. It is an incomparable place that will leave you in awe of its cultural wealth, a place that invites you to experience the extraordinary. In this light, Posadas celebrates the opening of Grand Fiesta Americana Oaxaca, an irresistible option for enjoying this magnificent state in an exclusive and fascinating way.
While everyone wishes for a holiday season free of stress, hassle and glitches, we all know this isn't a perfect world and something is bound to go wrong, especially when our holiday plans involve travel. Christmas is one of the busiest times of the year for travel and that means plenty of opportunity for something to go awry. How we handle those bumps in the road can make or break us, especially when we are already stretched thin thanks to the hectic holiday season.
Giving gifts is hard. The task grows when you need to manage the gift giving festivities of the holiday season. For something a little out of the ordinary, but that shows you still know your charge, consider giving a subscription service.
We can see it now and remember when it happened to us: Watching as the black car icon loops around and around, seemingly endlessly, and our wait time on the rideshare app continually changes. Long wait times and confused drivers are just a few bothersome issues that can nag at rideshare users. Need a solution? Ditch rideshares altogether in favor of renting a car on your next trip.
