A leap year is a calendar year with an additional day. This occurs once every four years and falls on Feb. 29. We will experience a leap day in 2020, so take advantage of leap year and celebrate the extra day.

Take a Leap

Use this bonus day to take a leap. Seize the day and try something new. This can be as simple as going to a new restaurant or as bold as booking a trip to a bucket-list destination. If you’ve always wanted to go ski diving or bungee jumping, do it today and take a literal leap.

Throw a Party

Host a Leap Day party. Serve unique dishes and drinks that will be more adventurous than standard party fare. If you happen to have a loved one born Feb. 29, throw a themed birthday party. Remember, if your friend is turning 32, they’re technically only celebrating their eighth birthday. Opt for things like pizza, games and movies they loved as a kid.

Watch Leap Year

Watch the 2010 rom-com Leap Year. Starring Amy Adams, the film revolves around a woman traveling to Ireland with her boyfriend to propose to him on Feb. 29, a day women are allowed to propose to men in a Celtic tradition.
