Florida’s Historic Coast centers around St. Augustine, Florida, which boasts more than four centuries of history. With all that history, you know it has a few (or more) haunts, too. So what should you see while you’re in town this October?
First, try a guided cemetery tour. Huguenot Cemetery guided tours are free (donations encouraged). This cemetery was the first in town dedicated to Anglo-American civilians. Free tours are also available at Tolomato Cemetery, the oldest extant planned cemetery in Florida, with burials dating to the 1500s.
Take your tours to the waters with a “boo cruise” from Adventure Boat Tours. Tours are available every Friday and Saturday in October and cover haunted spots.
Through Oct. 26, Ximenez-Fatio House Museum, more than two centuries old, is offering a tour experience focusing on medicine and mourning rituals, spiritualism and more. It’s family friendly, but the subject matter is a little macabre. Tours are available Friday and Saturday.
If you’re lucky enough to be in town Oct. 11–12, you can grab tickets for a truly one-of-a-kind performance. St. Augustine Ballet is presenting Dracula.

If you’re still stuck on pickleball, you’re stuck in the past. The latest and greatest game is padel — akin to pickleball, but on a smaller, walled court. The scoring systems are different, and the equipment is a little different, too, but you’ll be able to pick up padel quickly if you’ve ever played pickleball before (or even if you haven’t!).
