Summer is here and it’s heating up. Temperatures have been and will continue to be high this season and there’s sure to be heat waves in various countries. It’s important to stay hydrated and keep cool during the summer. Anyone who doesn’t take care of themselves properly could find themselves in the hospital or worse, and this could lead to a change in travel plans. Staying hydrated in hot weather is important.
The easiest way to stay hydrated is to drink water. Water is extremely important during the summer and will help keep internal body heat regulated even when the sun is beating down. Drink more water than usual and take frequent water breaks. Always keep a bottle of water on hand and have extra cash to buy water if needed. If you’re someone with a condition such as heart disease or diabetes, you will need more water than the average person.
When going to the bathroom, check the color of the urine to see if the body is hydrated. Urine will be darker in color if a person needs more water and will be clearer for those who are hydrated. This helps determine how much water is needed. Avoiding alcohol and caffeine is also recommended for those hoping to keep themselves hydrated. Both alcohol and caffeine can negatively impact a person and cause them to be dehydrated.
Water is king in the summer and will be the best way to stay hydrated. Sports drinks, while useful for some situations, are not going to hydrate a person as much as water. Staying hydrated will prevent any heat-related illnesses.
