Sustainability

Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh is the first hotel in Cambodia to partner with ecoSPIRITS, a company pioneering the world’s first low-carbon method of packaging and distributing high-end spirits.

“Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh is excited to partner with ecoSPIRITS and to continue to raise the bar for socially-conscious hospitality,” said Herman Kemp, general manager, Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh. “This partnership will enable our flagship bar, The Attic, to extend its popular sustainable cocktail menu in which all ingredients in the cocktail have zero wastage.”

ecoSPIRITS is a closed-loop distribution system using low-waste, low-carbon spirits distribution technology, which minimizes packaging waste and transport costs. The company transfers the spirits from bulk containers into ecoTOTES, a reusable container that carries 4.5 liters. Bartenders can use these containers to refill their bottles; when emptied, ecoTOTES are returned, sanitized, fitted with tamper-proof seals and re-distributed.

The partnership with ecoSPIRITS is one of several green food initiatives Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh rolled out since opening its doors in January. Other partnerships include Eggscellent, a cage-free chicken farm; Ocean Gems, a sustainable seafood company; Beyond Meat; and Moo Moo Farms. The hotel’s partnership with Eco-Soap Bank collects used soap from the property for redistribution to in-need populations.

ecoSPIRITS was founded in 2018 in Singapore and is available in a number of international markets: China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, the Maldives, the United Kingdom and Cambodia.
