The hunt is on for one person to receive a 10-day, all-expenses-paid trip to Iceland, as well as a $50,000 freelance reward. Icelandair is searching for someone “notoriously bad at taking photos.” In other words, no portfolio or technical skills are required or preferred to make a good candidate.
Why any ordinary person instead of an experienced photographer? Icelandair wants to prove Iceland is so beautiful, it’s impossible to take a bad photo. One winner will spend their journey on a photography expedition to show the world the unfiltered and authentic beauty of Iceland.
In fact, Icelandair specifically requests people apply who are frequently disappointed with their own photos, have no special interest in learning photography, are occasionally surprised when a photo turns out alright, and are comfortable sharing themselves on video and in photos. Of course, the only true requirements are you like to travel and you like people.
The gig covers 10 days this summer, with all expenses (including flights, hotels and transport) covered. The lucky winner will also receive $50,000 for the “job.”
Applicants must be 21 years or older; be allowed to travel to Iceland, the United Kingdom and United States; be comfortable hiking and navigating uneven terrain in spectacular landscapes; have a valid passport; and be able to take part in physical outdoor activities and adventures.
Apply here. Applications close April 30.
