The Bushcamp Company, specializing in safaris in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park, announced the opening of KuKaya, a new, first-of-its-kind safari redefining the traditional safari experience.
Situated inside the gates of South Luangwa National Park, KuKaya lies on the grounds of former President of Zambia Kenneth Kaunda’s holiday home. The grounds feature six spacious, thatched-roof chalets, each equipped with a kitchen, indoor and outdoor gathering and dining areas, and a private plunge pool.
KuKaya’s chalets offer an elevated residential feel, as well as a modern and airy vibe, allowing guests to feel at home while also being at one with the surrounding pristine bush. The open air-design helps guests enjoy South Luangwa’s slower pace of life, with leisurely afternoons filled with rare wildlife sightings from the comfort and privacy of a luxury villa. Guests can see elephants, leopards, lions and warthogs throughout the camp.
The Bushcamp Company created a build-your-own safari, an offering unique to KuKaya. Guests pay a base rate covering accommodations, daily service to their rooms, one private drive per day and a personal host who helps with the room and assists with meal preparation and service. Everything else, like food and additional activities and excursions, are selected and paid for separately.
New adventures and opportunities fill each day at KuKaya. Highlights include scenic alfresco dining and socializing at The Bomba, a large outdoor seating area; spa treatments; game drives; walking safaris; and wildlife viewing at Kukaya’s two hides.
