The RV industry saw record-breaking numbers of new RV purchases during the pandemic and in the years following, but is RVing as popular today, five years later?
According to RV Industry Association, the answer is “mostly.” A survey from the association indicated 44 million Americans plan to travel via RV this summer, still a very strong number, but slightly down from the 45–46 million Americans we’ve seen in years past.
“RVing continues to be one of the most rewarding ways to travel in the summer, offering unmatched freedom and flexibility that places new adventures just beyond your door,” said RV Industry Association spokesperson Monika Geraci. “Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a cross-country journey, RVing is the most affordable way to easily answer the call of the open road and experience the incredible offerings of our public lands, campgrounds and the great outdoors.”
The association’s recent survey not only looked at the number of Americans planning to travel by RV, but also at who was doing the traveling and where they were headed. It found shorter trips were trending, with most RVers staying within a seven-hour drive of home, and millennials in particular looking to RV and even buy an RV, thanks in part to the ease of remote working and schooling from an RV.
