Lake Placid Hotel Gives New Life to a 1950s Motor Inn

A Lake Placid 1950s motor inn receives new life as Eastwind Lake Placid. Opening this month, the Scandinavian-inspired, self-proclaimed “hygge-design” property with 26 guestrooms, and the second property of this type from the brand that got its start in New York’s Catskills, caters to stylish travelers looking for accommodations near Lake Placid’s downtown, as well as Adirondack Park.

Guestrooms range from private cabins to suites, and all are sleek, airy, Mid-Century Modern and spacious. The smallest option, Lushna Petite, is an intimate, 170-square-foot cabin with its own deck, king bed, bathroom and room for two, plus a pet. Larger options include King Suite George, with mountain and river views, its own lounge, fireplace and balcony.

Amenities include a pool with nature views (set to open in September), a bar and lounge, community barbecue area, fire pit with s’mores kits, complimentary bike rentals and a vintage library. When guests want to explore further afield, they’ll find they can easily walk to other dining options, as well as Olympic heritage sites, Lake Placid Golf Club and all of downtown Lake Placid’s shopping and other diversions.
