Trends / LGBTQIA+

Referred frequently to as one of the most gay-friendly countries in the world, Canada has no shortage of LGBTQ+ events. The acceptance and strong belief for equality created a strong community that welcomes everyone to join the feeling of pride no matter what time of year. Toronto has one of the best gay scenes for travelers.

Being the largest city in Canada, Toronto has an amazing gay culture sure to excite anyone. Every year, more than 1 million festival-goers attend the Toronto Pride Parade. Happening in June for worldwide Pride Month, attendees can enjoy the mild weather and fully embrace all of the colorful and creative displays of inclusiveness. The festival hosts concerts, cultural events and conferences for supporters to attend.

Open year-round, The Village, located in Church-Wellesley, has grown to be the central hub of gay culture. Theaters, galleries and a playful nightlife draw crowds to the area. Gay-friendly businesses line the downtown core, offering a vast array of items for sale.

In October, Halloween takes the community by storm. Leading up to the Oct. 31 holiday, entertainment, bar specials and costume parties can be found on almost every street. Creative minds walk the streets in elaborate costumes hoping to win competitions put on by local bars and clubs.

Toronto is a unique hub for travelers of the LGBTQ+ community to explore. Each season brings a new reason to celebrate, so dive in and get colorful in Canada’s best gay communities.
