Central and South America have no shortage of natural sites and beautiful things to see.
Guatemala, specifically, is home to many. One such sight is Semuc Cham, Guatemala’s limestone pools. The bodies of water are pretty tough to get to, but they have become more and more popular with travelers in recent years.
Semuc Champey is one of the most naturally beautiful spots in Guatemala. The name means “where the river hides under the stones,” and with a good look at the pools, you will see why that name makes sense.
The best way to get to the limestone pools is by booking transportation with a local organization. The fastest way to complete this trip is by way of Antigua. This still requires some time. The trip will take a few days and require multiple stops and break periods.
The closest village to the site is Lanquin. From here, it is roughly a 30–40-minute ride.
When you finally arrive at the limestone pools, make sure to take the time to swim in the beautiful water for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
