The newly opened Margaritaville Hotel Nashville is the first urban destination Margaritaville property. There’s no beach even close to Music City, so I, accustomed to the brand’s shoreside outposts, wasn’t sure what to expect when I checked in for a two-night stay. Turns out, I was delighted with my stay and am ready to book another in the near future.

The hotel boasts an excellent location within walking distance of Music City Center and just a short drive from the Nashville airport, so I arrived quickly after my flight. The front desk staff was friendly and hospitable, offering that Southern style of hospitality that’s just not easy to find elsewhere.

I was quickly off to my guestroom, a king suite with corner, floor-to-ceiling views of downtown and Music City Center. The suite provided plenty of space, with a seating area offset from the bed, a television in both spaces, lots of storage, ample lighting and a huge bathroom.

All of the guestrooms are designed with a relaxed, beach-y vibe in mind, but there’s nothing over the top. The inspiration is there, but nothing hits you in the face, like parrots on throw pillows or something along those lines. Instead, everything is understated, with lots of light wood details, mild blue and yellow accents and little touches here and there that seem just a tad nautical.

There are 217 guestrooms in total, along with 52 Vacation Club by Wyndham timeshare units.

A rooftop pool area provides skyline views and direct access to Fins Bar, with live music and patio fire pits for Nashville’s chillier nights. Other amenities include a 24-hour fitness center and 10,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space.

There is an on-site Starbucks off the lobby and a Margaritaville retail store.

A first-ever upscale dining concept from the Margaritaville brand is a pleasant surprise. JWB Grill offers a menu that fits right in with Nashville’s burgeoning food scene, with tempting small bites such as a Wagyu steak tartare served topped with a vibrant quail egg, and short rib empanadas with a chili pepper and cilantro sauce.

All in all, I was highly pleased with my brief stay at Margaritaville Hotel Nashville. I found the urban concept to be a more refined take on the Maragaritaville brand, one suitable for luxury travelers seeking a laid-back environment, but nothing that’s too kitschy.

I look forward to visiting again in the future.
