There seems to be an app for everything, from ordering groceries and playing games to grabbing a ride and watching TV shows. Navigating a city and keeping up with the busy day to day can be made much easier with an A-list lineup of mobile apps. Whether living full time or a frequent visitor, here is a list of apps for the New York City state of mind.

Get Fit

Launching in January, the newest fitness app on the New York scene, TRUPR mixes the best aspects of Uber and social media to make the most convenient workout app in the city. Users simply create a profile and log-in to instantly book personal trainers. No membership fee, it’s a pay-as-you-go setup (like Uber) completely flexible to your schedule. New York City residents can find nearby coaches and personal trainers and book a session, or business travelers can fit in time at a nearby gym or hotel fitness center. Users can also motivate each other, or just chat (via social media) with nearby users. Use filter settings to find your ideal trainer at any flexible price, so you’re guaranteed to get a great workout — all on your schedule. Read more about TRUPR and request future appointments.

Get Where You’re Going

While navigating public transportation and the city’s subway system may seem intimidating for some, it’s a basic necessity for most New Yorkers. If you know your way around, but need a little backup, download Citymapper. Available in most major cities, this transportation app makes it easier for residents and visitors to navigate the city’s busy subway system, bike trails, rail schedules, rideshares and the public bus system.

Type in your home address and work to easily commute by public transportation by day and search by destination to find your station, stop and easiest route to get where you’re going.
