Tips / Destination

Between the strict rules governing ownership and lack of green spaces to play in New York City, it can be daunting trying to find the perfect place to stay with your pooch. But there are a few hotels that cater to canine-loving travelers.

The Kimpton Muse

Not only do they allow pets of any make and size, but they do it for free! There’s also Bryant Park just a few blocks away where your pup can get some exercise, or the concierge here will arrange for a personal dog walker if you’re pressed for time.

Soho Grand Hotel

The Soho Grand Hotel is a bit on the pricier side, but at least they don’t charge extra for pets. They’ll even toss in food, bowls and a crate for free during your stay. Hartz Mountain Industries owns the hotel, so they’re happy to supply your pup with a free meal.

The Benjamin

The Benjamin Hotel treats four-legged friends just like family. In fact, with its Dream Dog program they’ll provide your pup with his own bathrobe, DVDs to keep him occupied and even room service. If your pooch can’t sleep on the floor you can just ask to see the menu of specially designed dog beds available to borrow.

The Roxy

The Roxy Hotel is a sister hotel to the Soho Grand and offers plenty of pet-friendly amenities. Aside from handing out treats from Bocce’s Bakery like free candy, they’ll also hook your dog up with gourmet food, water bowls and his own bed.

Iberostar 70 Park Avenue

Iberostar 70 is part of the Kimpton chain of hotels and goes above and beyond for furry guests. They offer doggie manicures, bedding and a variety of toys to play with throughout the day and night. With a park just a few blocks away, it might be the best choice in NYC.

What to Do During a Trip to Morro Bay, California

No, it’s not Monterey Bay. We’re talking Morro Bay, California, located about a 2.5-hour drive to the south, about halfway between San Jose and Los Angeles. A quieter destination, Morro Bay offers plenty for the outdoor adventurer to enjoy.
