If you are on the road a lot, you’ll want to keep your gear as small and light as possible. These laptops are made to do just that.

The Acer Chromebook 14 is available in 11-, 14- and 15-inch screen sizes, depending on just how small you want to go. It’s also light, and boasts 11-hour battery life. One thing to note is it’s a Chromebook, which means all of its programs run as apps that must be connected to the internet, something to consider if your connection might be spotty.

Those that want top-of-the-range performance should take a look at the Dell XPS 13. It’s a Windows laptop that blows the competition out of the water in terms of performance, so it’s perfect for those demanding photo and video edits.

If you are more of an Apple fan, try the Macbook Pro. It’s supremely light and well-equipped, with great battery life. The price will put some people off, but Apple laptops have a reputation for lasting a long time.

Another option is a laptop-tablet hybrid such as a Microsoft Surface Pro. These machines are increasingly popular among travelers, offering the best of both kinds of device.

The Future of Space Tourism

Space tourism grew out of fantasies and unfilled promises that seemed out of reach until nearly two decades ago. In 2001, American businessman Dennis Tito spent $20 million for almost eight days with the Russian spacecraft that orbited Earth 128 times. Other million-dollar space rides followed with wealthy space tourists over the years. But will space tourism ever become more accessible, or will it always remain a bucket list adventure for the elite?

Enjoy the Open Road on Your Terms

For most of us, time in the car is “me time.” You can listen to that podcast you’re captivated by, blast that pop song and sing along at the top of your lungs or listen to the next chapter in that biography e-book you’re almost finished. A road trip only amplifies those opportunities. So, next time you’re traveling by road, take the wheel and take control. Opt for a rental car on your next vacation, rather than a rideshare, taxi or public transportation, and enjoy the open road on your own terms.
